Case Study
Top Nomads.
MVP product design for a premium digital lifestyle platform that brings curated travel, exclusive events, partner perks, visa guidance, rewards, and booking flows into one trusted mobile experience.
About
Top Nomads is a premium digital lifestyle and event platform designed for affluent Africans and members of the diaspora who want easier access to curated travel, exclusive local events, lifestyle perks, and high-value community experiences. The product vision was broad from the beginning: a web application and mobile apps for iOS and Android, supported by membership tiers, partner venues, rewards, bookings, ticketing, visa guidance, and a digital Nomad Pass.
The Problem
The target audience already had spending power and intent, but the experience around premium African travel and lifestyle access was fragmented. Booking curated trips, finding trusted hotels, choosing flights or seats, discovering exclusive events, tracking visa requirements, redeeming partner perks, and staying connected while travelling all lived in separate tools. That fragmentation created unnecessary friction for users and made it harder for the brand to deliver the feeling of exclusivity and trust that a premium membership product needs.
The Solution
I structured the MVP as a membership-first product with five major experience areas: Explore for trips, stays, cars, destinations, and travel guides; Events for discovery, tier-gated access, and ticket details; booking flows for confirmation, seat selection, and post-trip feedback; Rewards for referrals, partner benefits, and points; and Account for membership, billing, activity, and profile management. The core design decision was to make the membership layer visible everywhere without making the product feel gated or complicated. Users needed to understand what their tier unlocked, what they could book now, and what value they were getting from the club.
My Process
- Translated the PRD into a product architecture that separated user-facing journeys, partner tasks, and admin control while keeping the MVP focused enough to build.
- Defined role-based access for members, partner venue representatives, and administrators so each user type had the right level of visibility and control.
- Mapped the Explore journey from discovery through service configuration, traveler details, seat selection, payment, confirmation, and automatic addition to My Bookings.
- Designed the membership logic around tier-based access, making premium events, travel benefits, partner perks, and upgrade paths clear without hiding core navigation from free or lower-tier users.
- Structured travel-support surfaces like visa tracking, destination guides, booking confirmations, referrals, ratings, and trip-end states so the product could support users before, during, and after an experience.
- Planned third-party integration points for ticketing, eSIM activation, and regional payment gateways such as Paystack or Flutterwave so the product could connect to real operational rails instead of remaining a static directory.
Result
The work turned a broad lifestyle-platform idea into a clear MVP blueprint with defined navigation, user roles, booking flows, membership rules, rewards logic, partner redemption touchpoints, travel support, and payment paths. Instead of treating travel, events, rewards, and connectivity as separate features, the case for Top Nomads became a unified membership experience: one account, one pass, one rewards balance, and one trusted place to access premium African lifestyle services.
